UXT codes for a ubiquitously-expressed, prefoldin-like chaperone that regulates transcription and TNF-induced apoptosis. It interacts with EVI1 and subsequently represses cell transformation. UXT forms a part of the NF-κB enhanceosome and modulates its nuclear function. It is also induces mitochondrial aggregation.
