Runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) is a transcription factor that plays a vital role in hematopoiesis, osteogenesis and neurogenesis. It is a member of Runt-related transcription factors (RUNXs). It was first identified as a component of Polyomavirus enhancer binding protein 2 (PEBP2) and Moloney murine leukemia virus enhancer core binding factor (CBF). Three isoforms of the protein have been identified: RUNX1a, RUNX1b and RUNX1c.
