生化/生理作用

Retinal outer segment membrane protein 1 (ROM1) is a photoreceptor membrane protein present in the photoreceptor disk rim of the eye. The essential role of ROM1 is the formation of the photoreceptor disk at the outer segment of rod and cone photoreceptor cells that is critical for phototransduction. Mutations in ROM1 gene have been observed in retinitis pigmentosa.
