一般描述
Ras homolog family member F, filopodia associated (RHOF), also referred to as RIF, is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 12q24.31. RHOF belongs to the Rho‐GTPase family. The encoded protein is primarily expressed in spleen, peripheral blood lymphocytes, isolated lymphoid tissue and bone marrow. In addition, it is also expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, including stomach and colorectal tissue.

Members of Rho family play a vital role in intracellular signaling pathways implicated in regulation of gene transcription, cell cycle entry and cell survival. Ras homolog family member F, filopodia associated (RHOF) is implicated in neuronal function. The encoded protein stimulates neurite retraction in cells by regulating FARP1(FERM, ARH/RhoGEF and pleckstrin domain protein 1). Overexpression of the gene has been observed in transformed follicular lymphomas (FTL).
