生化/生理作用

GK2 (Glycerol kinase 2) encodes a 553 amino acid containing peripheral membrane protein that belongs to FGGY kinase family. It plays a pivotal role in glycerol degradation by catalyzing the ATP dependent conversion of glycerol to glycerol 3-phosphate. Hence it facilitates the regulation of glycerol uptake and metabolism.
