Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2 (GOT2) in an inner-membrane mitochondrial enzyme that interconverts the amino acids aspartate and glutamate and the TCA cycle components α-ketoglutarate and oxaloacetate. The enzyme facilitates a balance between energy metabolism and amino acid composition.

It is used as a probe to study the role of mitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase in energy metabolism and amino acid composition management by cells.

Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme which exists in cytoplasmic and inner-membrane mitochondrial forms, GOT1 and GOT2, respectively. GOT plays a role in amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles.
