一般描述
The estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) gene is mapped to human chromosome 6q25.1-q25.2. The encoded protein belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family. ESR1 is characterized with a transcription activation function-1 domain (AF-1), a DNA-binding domain (DBD), a hinge domain and a ligand-binding domain (LBD/AF-2).

生化/生理作用
Estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) is involved in immune and inflammatory response. Aberrations in ESR1 results in Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome that is associated with the congenital absence of the uterus and the upper two-thirds of the vagina. Polymorphism in the gene increases the risk of susceptibility to fractures. Elevated expression of the gene has been observed in breast cancer patients.
