Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.

14:0 PC-d54 is suitable to reconstitute [ILV-¹³CH₃, U-15^N, 2^H] labeled EmrE in n-dodecyl-β-D-maltopyranoside (DDM) back-exchanged to 1_Hat the amide positions during nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sample preparation. It is also suitable for the preparation of phospholipid liposomes.
