Protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit β (PRKACB) is one of the catalytic subunits of the serine/threonine kinase, protein kinase A. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 1p36.1.

应用

Kinase activity is measured as the molar amount of phosphate incorporated into the CREBtide substrate peptide per minute per mg protein at 30^°C using a final concentration of 50 μM [³²P] ATP.

cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA; EC 2.7.1.37) is an essential enzyme in the signaling pathway of the second messenger cAMP. Through phosphorylation of target proteins, PKA controls many biochemical events in the cell including regulation of metabolism, ion transport, and gene transcription.
