一般描述
A cell-permeable furancarboxylic acid compound that activates celular AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity by inhibiting mitochondrial complex I, and thus elevating intracellular AMP level. Shown to enhance glucose uptake in L6 myocytes (EC50= 11.7 ?M). Reduces blood glucose levels in ZDF ratsin vivo(oral dose 30-100 mg/kg). Displays negligible cytotoxicity at pharmacological doses.
