YPD agar is a complete yeast culture medium for most yeast species, especially forSaccharomyces cerevisiae. It is also known as YEPD and comprises of yeast extract, bacteriological peptone, glucose, and agar. The components of this media provide all the necessary nutrients for yeast growth. The essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids in the medium acts carbon and nitrogen source.

YPD agar has been used as a culture media:

• to cultivateS. cerevisiaestrains to find a long-term preservation method for a deep space biosensor mission
• for yeast strains inin vitrobroth microdilution (BMD) based on minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)
• forZymoseptori tricitistrains for virulence studies
