Esketamine HCl, formerly known as JNJ-54135419 or (S)-(+)-Ketamine, is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor potentially for the treatment of depression. Ketamine is an NMDA receptor channel blocker (Ki = 1.2-2.5 μM, IC50 = 3.2-6.1 μM). Esketamine is about 4 times more potent an analgesic than the R-enantiomer, and twice as potent as the racemic mixture. Esketamine HCl is discontinued (DEA controlled substance).
