Pirenzepine Dihydrochloride is a selective antagonist for the mAChR M1 (M1 muscarinic receptor) and is reported to block presynaptic mAChR M1 as well as some reported inverse agonist activity. Pirenzepine dihydrochloride is an antimuscarinic agent that inhibits gastric secretion. It promotes the healing of duodenal ulcers and due to its cytoprotective action is beneficial in the prevention of duodenal ulcer recurrence. It also potentiates the effect of other antiulcer agents.
