Nonoxynol-9 (abbreviated as N-9, N9) is a novel and potent human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) inhibitor which is also used as a surfactant and functions as a spermatocide. It is a member of the nonoxynol family of nonionic surfactants. N-9 and related compounds are ingredients in various cleaning and cosmetic products. It is widely used in contraceptives for its spermicidal properties.
