(R)-(+)-3-Hydroxypyrrolidine is used in the enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes leading to optically active secondary alcohols. Also used to prepare-κ-opioid receptor agonists.

Store under inert gas. It is sensitive to moisture. Store in a cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers. It is hygroscopic and sensitive to air. Incompatible with oxidizing agents.
